What You May Be Noticing
Transmission fluid is usually red or reddish-brown, and it shows up under the middle of the vehicle rather than under the engine. A few drops is worth watching. A spot that grows every night is worth fixing.
Low fluid is one of the most common reasons a transmission starts slipping, and it is also one of the most preventable. The leak is almost always cheaper than what happens if the level keeps dropping.
What YBE Checks and Repairs
We find where it is actually coming from. Fluid travels along the underside of a car, so the wet spot is often not the source. Common origins are the pan gasket, the front pump seal, axle seals, cooler lines and the fittings at the radiator.
We also check fluid condition while we are there. Fluid that is dark or smells burnt is telling us the unit has been running hot, which is worth knowing even if the only complaint today is a leak.
Then we repair the source, refill to the correct level with the specified fluid type, and verify the level at operating temperature. Transmission fluid level is temperature-dependent, and checking it cold gives a misleading reading.

Why This Should Not Wait
A transmission that runs low on fluid loses both lubrication and hydraulic pressure. That is what turns a gasket leak into a slipping complaint, and a slipping complaint into a rebuild.
